      My personal review

 Buying cheap prescription glasses at Optical4less is an easy process. Just select the frame catagory on their main webpage and this will take you to the list of frames available and their price – just choose your frames. You then choose the frame colour and tick the box for the useage of your glasses – Distance only, Reading only, Multi-focal etc. You then need to enter your name, age, and if you like even your head size. Then type in your prescription.

Then comes your lens selection – the frame price comes with Hi-Index 1.56 Standard Lens. You then have the choice of added extras like sunglass tint, polarized lenses and multi coatings. I found the Optical4less website and buying process very easy and informative.

What I bought and what I got

I purchased their alloy ma096 frames with the standard Hi-Index lens for distance viewing and no added extras. The glasses price was $US29 and $US8 for shipping (anywhere in the world) If you buy 2 pairs of glasses the shipping is free – a great cheap alternative.

Good Customer Service

The glasses arrived in about 14 days and were well packed. They came with a plastic case and cleaning cloth. The case was a little cheap but very satisfactory. The frame seemed to be aluminium alloy and not as rigid and strong as I would have liked – they looked great. The lenses seemed a little “off” when looking at an angle but I soon got use to them. What I did not like was that the left nose pad broke off in 4 days and the right one broke off in 7 days. The nose pads were all plastic with no metal insert.

I did email Optical4less and they told me to send a photo of the problem – so I did. After 3 days they told me they would send me more nose pads and screws which arrived in about 4 days. I have been wearing the glasses for nearly 2 months now and have had no further problems but I am extra careful with the nose pads when cleaning the glasses.

Although my buying experience was not perfect I will try them again and will update this review – I would love to hear from others who have bought their glasses from Optical4less – please add your comment below!

UPDATE!!!

It’s been about 7-8 months since I have bought these glasses and I originally had concerns about the frames and also a slight concern about the lenses.  I also bought 2 other pairs of glasses at the same time from other online retailers – here is my updated review.

My other pair of distance glasses (which I bought from another retailer) self destructed after normal use in about 5 months – the lenses scratched very easily and the frames eventually broke.  My other pair, which I bought at another retailer, are going ok but there are many scratches.  The glasses I bought from Optical4less are still going strong and amazingly there are no scratches – there scratch coating really works well and I find the lenses are perfect.  The frames have suffered a hard time as I am very hard on glasses – I never use the case.  I have dropped these glasses many times and have walked on them will no permanent ill effects.  I need new glasses for reading and will purchase them from Opical4less – I highly recommend this company.
